This is where it all started! This guitar isn’t perfect, but is in fine working and playing order allowing you the opportunity to own a first year Les Paul at a discounted price. This guitar was originally all gold, but the original owner had the back stripped and refinished in 1970. The refinish on the back appears to not be professional and has many imperfections throughout (running, orange peeling, etc). Traces of the original gold can be found in the control cavities on the back (see photos) and the original gold is untouched on the top which has aged beautifully!
The neck of the guitar appears to have been sanded down on the back, reducing its thickness to more of a 59’ profile, and there are signs of sanding on the back and sides where the refinish occurred. Regarding parts, this guitar is original aside from the tuners being replaced with vintage correct repros and the backplates on the control panel. The original plastics have aged over time and the jack plate has been re-glued during its lifetime. The original inlays have shrunken some and have slightly raised, but the guitar still plays incredibly well over the original frets. Comes with the original brown Lifton case w/pink lining which has aged beautifully!
