1974 Gibson L5S-Sunburst (USED)
1974 Gibson L5S-Sunburst (USED)
Introduced in 1972, the L5S was one of Gibson’s top of the line offerings during the 1970’s. Essentially a smaller, thinner, and solid body version of the famous L-5, this model had all of the cosmetic features of that model without the bulky size and feedback issues that came with it. This one is all original and has a killer sound that is perfect for Jazz, Blues, and Rock.
Due to their unique looks and high price of nearly $900.00, which is over $5,000 today, they never really caught on. As a result, the model was discontinued in the early 1980s leaving us with less than 2,000 ever made.
This one features a 3-piece maple top, maple body, 3 piece maple neck with the original frets (pitted but still play well), and original humbucking pickups (1st year for these on this model). This guitar is fully functional, plays well, and is structurally sound (with decades of cool natural wear and tear throughout). Comes with the original hardshell case.
